Got A Hunger to Help Others? Volunteer with INRTA at Your Local Food Bank
February 1, 2021
Food insecurity is growing nationwide as the rate of unemployment rises amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The past holiday season saw 1 in 6 adults with children in the country lacking sufficient food., according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP).
With the current state of food insecurity in the U.S., food banks nationally are becoming lifelines for many needy Americans. Long lines wrapped around food banks across the country during Thanksgiving.
And the end of this increased need may be a long way away. The Washington Post reported that the U.S. could face shortages of eight billion meals over the next year.
What can you do to help? Find out if INRTA is currently or will soon once again be offering volunteer opportunities at a food bank near you. Volunteering can be a fulfilling and fun way to team up and work alongside your peers to help people in your community.
Talk to your association to see what volunteering is needed now or in the near future.
